Rohit Sharma backs Bhuvneshwar Kumar after losing to SL

On Tuesday, at the post-match press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his views about the ongoing form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Asia Cup. India to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in 2022 Asia Cup’s Super 4 phase.

Rohit Sharma, the veteran Indian captain however had an interesting answer on the recent form of Bhuvneshwar. The defending champions India faced a heart-wrenching defeat from Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Earlier, Pakistan defeated India, which led India to an early departure from the Asia Cup 2022.

Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka successfully chased down India’s target by 6 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. After the match, Rohit Sharma interacted with the reporters. Indian skipper Rohit however showed lesser concerns about India’s form before the upcoming ICC World T20. Apart from the topic regarding Bhuvneshwar, Sharma spoke about the concerns too.

In the post-match conference, Rohit Sharma said,

“We did not bat and score runs in the first six overs the way we wanted. But we got momentum after that. But we failed to capitalise on it and finish the game. I think we were 10-12 runs short, but 175 runs are defendable too. The way spinners bowled, they gave us hope and brought us into the match again. But we could not close the match the way we wanted to.”

The senior pacer Bhuvneshwar failed to take wickets in a must-win game for India against Sri Lanka. However, Rohit Sharma opted to shut the critics in the post-match conference. When the reporters asked Rohit Sharma about Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he said,

“Even experienced bowlers go for runs. Bhuvi has been playing for us for so many years and has won us so many matches in death overs.”

.Pacer Bhuvneshwar conceded 30 runs in 4 overs. However, youngster Arshdeep Singh gave 40 runs in 3.5 overs. Earlier, against Pakistan, Bhuvneshwar in the 19th over gave 19 runs. That eased Pakistan’s victory over India in Asia Cup’s Super 4.
