After the retirement of Ben Stokes in a shocking way from the ODI format of cricket and then Moeen Ali also stating his opinions on the same, it is now being thought that the format will not last long.

However, India captain Rohit Sharma said that ODI is also an important format of cricket just like T20I and Tests.

Additionally, Rohit also stated that there should be a fourth format of cricket as for him playing cricket is more important.

Rohit recalled how in childhood, he had always dreamt of playing for India and now when they are playing for the country, no format is less important for him.

Moreover, Rohit also told that fans still love the ODI format and the stadiums remain jam-packed when India plays.

Right now, India are playing Zimbabwe for a 3-match ODI series while another team is preparing back home for the Asia Cup.

This year, the Asia Cup will be a lot different as now it has been converted into a T20 tournament.

Rohit was at the helm of affairs when India lifted the cup in 2018.

Pakistan defeated India for the first time in an ICC event by 10 wickets last year.

Rohit also highlighted the fact that as the T20 World Cup is just two months away, so they will be fine-tuning their team according to that.

India will be without the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel for the Asia Cup.

Additionally, Mohammed Shami is not a part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

India will begin their campaign of the Asia Cup against Pakistan on the 28th of August.

Rohit is also focusing on creating a bench strength of youngsters who can win matches for India.
