Romano drops update on ‘complete’ striker

Arsenal will be in the hunt to sign not one but two strikers this upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners have just two strikers at the moment in their ranks. Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah‘s contracts will expire at the end of the season and it’s unlikely the club will renew them. In the January transfer window, Arsenal let go of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang but failed to bring in a replacement.

January transfer window mishap by Arsenal

The Gunners management tried to lure Dušan Vlahović away from Fiorentina in January and bid a lumpsum amount multiple times, the last one being £88m, accepted by Viola. But the Serbian international himself was not interested in the switch and agreed on personal terms with Juventus instead. A great chunk of valuable time was wasted as Arsenal failed to secure the target man and decided not to panic-buy at the last moment.

Currently, the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Victor Osimhen have been linked with Arsenal ahead of the summer. But a ‘forbidden’ Serie A striker might be available in the transfer market.

What Romano said

Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo “will leave” this summer according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Italy international has recently signed a new contract at the Serie A club. Several weeks ago via Sport Witness, FC Inter News broke the news about Arsenal who came knocking on Sassuolo’s door asking for the striker. Though the forward signed a contract extension, it’s because Sassuolo wants to protect their prime asset.

On Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, Romano revealed,

Yes, yes, he will leave Sassuolo

He extended the contract a few days ago but he will leave Sassuolo. It was an extension to allow a potential loan with obligation to buy clause.”

So that’s why he extended the contract, and yes, there are many clubs interested in him.

In January Borussia Dortmund was asking about him. There are many clubs interested.”

The 6’5″ tall forward has 13 goals from 34 Serie A appearances this season and picked up comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is dominant aerially, has good hold-up play ability, and can pick fine passes. He could very well suit Mikel Arteta‘s style of play.
