Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is not happy at Chelsea in an interview with Sky Italia. This has caused several reactions from the Chelsea fans on social media platforms and understandably so. Lukaku was on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s recent draw against Brighton. However, that did not stop him from giving that interview.

Romelu Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances at Inter Milan in all competitions. Chelsea signed him for £97.5 million in the hope of challenging for the Premier League title this season. However, that is not turning out as expected since Chelsea have lost ground in the title race and are facing an injury crisis.

Romelu Lukaku was supposed to be the main striker and everyone expected him to score week in and week out at Chelsea. He had a great start to his Chelsea but later faced a dip in form. Moreover, he missed several matches because of injury and testing positive for COVID. He seems to have found his form back as he as scored in back-to-back matches now.

However, Lukaku had this to say in a recent interview with Sky Italia,

“Physically I am fine. But I’m not happy with the situation at Chelsea. Tuchel has chosen to play with another system – I won’t give up, I’ll be professional. I am not happy with the situation but I am professional – and I can’t give up now”

“I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like this… how I left Inter, the way I left the club, how I communicated with Inter fans – this bothers me because it was not the right time.

Why this Romelu Lukaku statement should concern Chelsea?

Everyone expected Lukaku to deliver for Chelsea and help them be a threatening side in Europe. Moreover, Chelsea also invested almost £100 million in the Belgian as they believed he can help them go long way. However, a big investment like this is not happy at the club is a huge concern. A player should want to play for a big club like Chelsea.

He was constantly praised at Inter Milan but that was not going to be the case in England. The Premier League is a tougher league in all aspects including the opponents and also the media. He is being criticized by some fans as he did not deliver as expected. Moreover, he won’t be fully motivated to deliver for the club if he is not happy.

The Belgian has not even completed a season at the club and is yet unhappy and has expressed his willingness to join Inter again in near future. He mentioned this also in the interview,

“I really hope from bottom of my heart to return to Inter not at the end of my career, but when I’m still at top level to win more together. I want apologise to the Inter fan, timing of my words was wrong: what you did for me will remain forever.”

Lukaku may face some consequences after his controversial statements. Therefore, to recover his reputation he should keep his head down give his 100% for Tuchel and Chelsea. He will only be forgiven by the Chelsea fans if he starts delivering week in and week out at club and give them what they hoped for.
