Ross Barkley still has more to give

English Premier league

Ross Barkley, 30, made a surprise switch to newly promoted Luton last summer following a brief spell in France .A move to Kenilworth Road has seen him play the most league minutes he has in a season for seven years. It also led to talk about an England recall. From his current performances we can say Ross Barkley still has more to give. “I feel like I’m in a good place again,” Barkley told BBC Sport. “I don’t have to worry about anything else other than playing games and enjoying training. He also told he is enjoying his matches and trying to help the team do as good as possible.”

A £15m move to Chelsea in 2018 was described as a “fresh start”. However Barkley left the Blues by mutual consent at the start of the 2022-23 season after just 100 appearances for the club. After leaving Stamford Bridge, Sir Dave Brailsford convinced Barkley to join Nice. Which is owned by Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos company. However after just nine starts in 27 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, Barkley returned to England. He signed for Luton after their promotion to the Premier League.

Ross Barkley still has trust of Rob Edwards

Rob Edwards said working with Ross Barkley had helped him to become a better manager. He also declared the 30-year-old still has more to give. The Luton Town boss praised the Everton youth product, who left Goodison under a cloud of controversy, for his humility and “brilliant attitude”.

After the game Edwards said of it: “I was very pleased with him, I thought it was a very mature performance. His workrate was excellent, he used the ball intelligently, he was brave – it was typical Ross. I thought there were a lot of positives there.”

Sean Dyche also acknowledged the midfielder’s performance but, given the chance to talk about him, simply said “he’s done well this season”. Clubs like Aston Villa and Everton are showing heavy interest in him.
