Rudiger gives his verdict on the current Chelsea Team

Pochettino

Antonio Rudiger, former Chelsea defender gave an interview to Marca, where he said,

“The Chelsea team I played for is nothing like the current Chelsea team. But what is clear to me is that the match will be tough, they have plenty of quality players.”

This Interview was given by Rudiger just before Chelsea went on to face Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League tie. The Blues faced a 2-0 defeat to Madrid at Stamford bridge and lost the tie 4-0 on Aggregate.

The German international signed for Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. Moreover, he left Chelsea after winning the Champions League with them to join the spanish giants. However, since then, Chelsea has gone through several changes both on and off the pitch. There have been multiple managers, a lot of new players coming in and a bad run of form from the Blues. Speaking to the press, Rudiger said that he feels like this team is completely different from what he played under.

Is Rudiger correct?

As it looks, whatever the former Chelsea defender has said looks to be very true. Chelsea have underwent a whole revamp in their administration. Since, Todd Boehly has purchased the club, there have been a lot of signings and sacking of managers in Chelsea. All this hasn’t helped them on the pitch and they have struggled to win games. They currently sit on 11 position on the table and are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top.

Currently, Frank Lampard is on the reign of the Blues and till now his work hasn’t looked convincing enought to suggest that he might be promoted to permanent manager. The Blues are clearly struggling to score goals and win matches and the change in managers hasn’t helped them till now.

Finally, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead in the future of Chelsea. Will Frank Lampard be able to turn around of what is left of this season? Or will there be a change in the manager position yet again in the summer?
