Sander Westerveld claims that £34m Liverpool superstar would have been the greatest if he had better teammates

Liverpool

Former Liverpool man Sander Westerveld believes Mo Salah might have become the greatest if he got better colleagues. Sander was speaking on the quality possessed by the Liverpool winger. The Egyptian has been arguably the best in the Reds outfit so far this season. However, there have been rumours for a potential exit from Anfield to Middle East. Despite this, his role in Klopp’s Premier League title charge has been significant.

In an interview with Mirror, Westerveld said that former Roma man may have been better if he had other players of same calibre. He said,

“I have full confidence in Mo. If some of his teammates had an eye for Mo like he has for them, his stats would be even better. He can honestly produce bigger things.

There are moments in the game where you don’t see him or his contributions are not the greatest, but with one pass or one goal he can decide matches for Liverpool. And this is exactly why Klopp rarely takes him off.”

Although Salah is an all-time legend for Reds, it happen better with other quality players by side. His former Liverpool teammates are also world class no doubt. But still the quality of Salah was above all. Yet had more been done to keep the quality consistent, the scenario might have been different. There’s no telling how far Salah could have gone at Liverpool with better players around him. Nevertheless, Salah is a crucial part of this season’s title challenge so far for Merseyside club. The fans should enjoy the time for which the Egyptian icon is with them as he is also nearing to his retirement age.
