Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has been offered to a handful of Premier League clubs on loan as his representatives work on an exit from the Wanda Metropolitano.

The 26-year-old was key for Atletico last season, making 41 appearances in all competitions. Now, it is believed that he has been available for transfer this summer.

Saul was told he is free to leave this summer. Initially, he was to join Barcelona in a swap deal which would have seen Antoine Griezmann move the other way in exchange. However, talks broke down.

Saul to the Premier League – Weighing up the options

Currently, given the financial situation, the only option for Saul would be a switch to the Premier League. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all shown interest in the versatile midfielder. But as of the given moment, none have shown signs of leaning towards a permanent deal.

Chelsea prioritised the £97,500,000 move for Romelu Lukaku. They retain an interest in Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, so they don’t exactly have the funds to sign Saul permanently.

The chance to loan in Saul Niguez could pique Liverpool’s interest. They were the first to prepare a bid of €40,000,000 for the 26-year-old. Management at Anfield has told Klopp he must sell players first before bringing in new faces. Landing Saul on the cheap could be too good to overlook.

As for Manchester United, a move for Saul seems somewhat unlikely as Paul Pogba will be staying at Old Trafford, at least for the next year or so.

Saul was left out of Atletico’s squad for their La Liga clash with Elche on Sunday. Since making his debut for the Colchoneros, the Spaniard has scored 43 goals and registered 20 assists in 338 appearances.

The former Real Madrid youngster has five years left to run on the high-paying deal he penned in 2017.
