Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has funded a fresh £140 million infusion into the team. A reporter has provided an update from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea s January Transfer Rumors

Even though Chelsea have spent over €1 billion since the beginning of the 2022–2023 season. Including 16 new players during the summer—they may be busy during the winter transfer window.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, though, things haven’t exactly gone as planned on the field. The team is currently in 10th place in the Premier League. And has lost as many games as they have won.

Pochettino’s position doesn’t seem to be in jeopardy right now. As Chelsea are instead trying to add a new striker this month, with a left-back addition also a possibility.

The latest attacking targets linked with moves to Stamford Bridge are Paulo Dybala of AS Roma, Victor Osimhen of Napoli, and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus. However, the former of the three could cost over £100 million due to his release clause.

This implies that Boehly might have to splash the cash once more. But a recent update suggests that Chelsea might have access to the money.

Reporter Reveals £140M Update

In an update published on Wednesday, Sean Fisher of Football Insider revealed that Chelsea’s owners had given the team a £140 million boost in the form of a fresh share offering.

He went on to say that 1,000 new shares were bought for £1.4 million each pence share. Though it’s unclear if this represents an equity investment or the conversion of debt to equity. A portion of the money raised, according to the report, “may go towards improving Pochettino’s squad over January.” Thats mean it is a big opportunity for Chelsea.

As previously indicated, Osimhen might cost more than £100 million, so this most recent funding round might ultimately be used to acquire the Nigerian international. Should that be the case, Osimhen may take Chelsea to the next level in the final third. Especially after enjoying his outstanding career-best 2022/23 season in front of goal.

Following the £140 million update involving Boehly and company. Osimhen could be Chelsea marquee signing of 2024 given his form throughout the current campaign and the Blues’ “positive” talks with his entourage. The player is also open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
