Sergio Aguero could make Barcelona debut against Real Madrid

Sergio Aguero could potentially make his long-awaited Barcelona debut against arch rivals Real Madrid on October 24. 

The 33-year-old, who moved to Camp Nou on a free transfer from Manchester City over the summer. However, he is yet to feature for the Catalan giants. The striker unfortunately suffered a severe calf injury before the start of the season. Reports suggested he could be out for 10 weeks.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sergio Aguero is edging closer to full fitness after returning to training with Barcelona. The Argentina international is now making significant progress on the training field. As such, he could be on course to make his debut against Real Madrid.

Barcelona’s Twitter account showed Aguero training individually. He was working on a drill twisting and turning while passing the ball against a panel before applying a finish into a training goal. 

His recovery means he may now be able to start training with team-mates for the first time in the middle of the October after the international break.

The news will come as a boost for manager Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman previously claimed that his side will improve once key attackers including Aguero and Ousmane Dembele return to the fold.

The forward was initially expected to return in November. But, now it seems he is in line to feature before the end of the month, and could debut in El Clasico on October 24.

Barcelona went into the international break off the back of successive defeats. They will be looking to bounce back when they continue their La Liga campaign at home to Valencia on October 17.

Before Aguero made the move to Spain, he scored 260 goals and registered 73 assists in 390 appearances for Manchester City between 2011 and 2021.
