Sergio Perez has also reacted to the burning matter of the Red Bull budget cap scandal by defending his team.

The news of Max Verstappen claiming his second world title was overshadowed by the fact that Red Bull was found guilty of a budget cap breach in the 2021 season by FIA.

The governing body provided certificates of compliance to all but two teams for the 2021 budget cap. Aston Martin was found at fault for a procedural breach.

Red Bull on the other hand committed “minor” overspending.

This means the breach could be up to five percent or $7.25 million over the $145 million budget cap. However, at the moment it is considered to be no more than $2 million.

Red Bull continues to deny any such breach while Sergio Perez has also commented on the issue. Perez talked in defense of his team just ahead of the United States GP:

“We believe that we are in line and we believe that everything will come up in the right situation,”

said Perez.

“I think, obviously, I will leave it down to my team to solve that together with the FIA.”

Despite all the rumors and controversy surrounding Red Bull, Sergio Perez said this when asked if he feels anything different in the paddock in Austin:

“At the end of the day, there are always teams that want to take performance out of you. Especially, when you are winning.

“It is part of the sport and this has been forever. I just think it is just a normal situation and at the end of the day, facts will come out and people will be able to see and understand the situation.”

Sergio Perez helped Verstappen secure his second world title in Japan.
