While a short switch to the Spanish side seemed the best option for all parties involved. Things have not gone quite as planned. Anthony Martial has recorded just one goal and one assist since his switch to the La Liga. While he is goalless in his last eight appearances for the Spanish outfit.

Current Premier League Standings

The loan deal was a straight-up six-month loan deal with no ‘obligation to buy included in the contract. The expectations were high around the French forward. Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui was very high on praise for the forward when he joined the club on loan in January. But Anthony Martial has struggled in front of the goal yet again.

Anthony Martial set to return to Manchester United from Sevilla in the summer?

Reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the French forward will return to his parent club in the summer. With Sevilla already having made up their mind about not making a permanent move for Anthony Martial. Talking on his Here We Go podcast, he said:

“He’s coming back from Sevilla. They are not signing him on a permanent or making any bid for Martial.” “The (United’s) new manager will make a decision, selling him or keeping him at the club. Everything will be discussed by Manchester United.”

“Sevilla are already convinced that he is not staying at the club next season.” he added.

Does Anthony Martial have a future at Manchester United?

While it may seem like Manchester United made the right decision by letting the French forward go out on loan in January. But the Premier League giants have struggled in front of goal as well this term. Edinson Cavani has missed most of the season due to different injury setbacks. While Marcus Rashford looks completely unfit and out of form since making his return back from injury.

Anthony Elanga has done quite well since making his breakthrough into the first team. But the stars of the first team are massively underperforming. The horrible 1-0 loss to relation candidates Everton highlighted the same fact perfectly. With a lot of people expected to leave the club in the summer. Next summer may be the last chance for Martial to impress the new manager and fulfil his potential at Old Trafford.
