The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s scoreline is 2-1 in the favor of India. But to qualify for the World Test Championship final, India has to win the final game. Mohammed Shami was rested in the third match of the series to manage the workload. He is most likely to return in the X1 for the final test.

Mohammed Shami replacement

Shami was replaced by Umesh Yadav in the third test match. He also took 3 wickets in the match and scored some quick runs in the first innings. In the fourth test, Umesh will most likely continue, and Siraj might take a break before the ODI series. The final match will be crucial for India in the view WTC final. If India lost the final match of the series, then they have to wait for the result of the SL vs NZ test series. Shami will come in the place of Siraj.

No directives about the pitch from management

A state association source told that

We haven’t received any instructions from the Indian team management and our local curators are preparing a normal track as we have always done through the season. In fact, last Ranji game over here in January, Railways scored 500 plus (508) batting first and Gujarat, although had innings defeat, scored 200 plus in both innings. It won’t be too different this time,”

He further added that

“Obviously, last few days, the BCCI’s grounds and pitches committee instruct the local curator. But certainly, from our end, we endeavor to produce a good Test match pitch. You have to factor in that the Day/Night Test and the one after that were the first ones held after the stadium was refurbished and you had no clue how the pitch will pan out.”
