Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks that Brentford man will be a great suit for Chelsea

Former Chelsea star Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks that £100m Brentford man will suit Chelsea. Shaun has been talking on The Sport Review about the links between Chelsea and Ivan Toney. The Blues could make a move for the England striker in January. Though, he will not come for a cheap price as Brentford will love to cash-out their star striker. However, he is not currently playing due to a ban until January for gambling charges. Chelsea will have to splash out a huge amount if they are to bring him to West London. Their city rivals Arsenal are also speculating a move for Toney.

Speaking to The Sport Review, the former Chelsea winger said,

“It’s a hard one because who’s going to get him? I heard Arsenal were interested and now Chelsea, so there might be a bit of a bidding war. He’s a fantastic player.

I think he would suit both of them because he can offer them another dimension, and he’s also more of an out-and-out number nine who’s hungry for goals and very rarely misses penalties. If you give him a chance, he will put it in the back of the net. He would be a tremendous attribute for either of those teams.”

Is Shaun right with Chelsea and Toney view?

Speaking honestly, Toney will be a great addition for the Blues. The Englishman is a traditional centre-forward who is able to play with his back to the goal and a bully of the defenders. Moreover, he might the only choice who is somewhat near to the likes of Diego Costa or Didier Drogba, two of the best no.9s Chelsea ever witnessed. Moreover, he is a proven goal scorer, something Chelsea are in a desperate need of.

Though, Nikolas Jackson is looking to have settled in the squad. This might be a sigh of relief for the administration at Stamford Bridge as he was not looking good at the start. The Senegal international has scored four goals in his last two games. However, it will be early to say that he will be the man Chelsea can rely for their goal scoring sheet day in day out. He has just moved to England and is yet to show that he is a consistent goal-threat.
