Should have learned from previous mistakes: frustrated WI skip Nicholas Pooran

tennis player

The New West Indian team led by Nicholas Pooran was crushed down by India by 88 runs in the fifth T-20. Following the defeat, Pooran expressed his dissatisfaction with his team’s performance. He said that his team failed to learn from their previous mistakes.

After the final T-20 at Florida, on Sunday, Pooran, in the post-match presentation said,

“We were just not good enough. We did not learn from our mistakes. We just wear not up to the challenge, just did not put enough partnerships. To come up against tough teams, we need to be good in execution. Be it in the batting group or bowling group, we have a lot of catching up to do. I just hope that we are a team learned from this loses. We are building towards the World Cup and hopefully we can come that right.”

However, India, with this win, sealed the series by 4-1.

Coming to bat first, India scored 188 runs by losing 7 wickets. It apparently looked huge to Pooran and Co. Shreyas Iyer indeed played a genuine big role by giving a good start. He scored 64 runs off 40 balls. Deepak Hooda too gave good stability in the middle by scoring 25 balls 38. However, Hardik Pandya too contributed 28 runs from just 16 balls at the end. This teamwork helped India to cross the 180 mark.

However, the West Indian bowlers weren’t that impressive unless it was Odean Smith. He scalped 3 wickets by giving just 33 runs. Nonetheless, Hayden Walsh, Obed McCoy, and Jason Holder, each bagged one wicket.

Hetmyer tried but lacked support from Nicholas Pooran, and the company

The West Indian team led by Nicholas Pooran literally faced regular tremors while chasing 189. They failed to create a stable partnership. It was tough for them to pave out the spinners’ web. Axar Pater (3/15) trembled the top order. Ravi Bishnoi (4/16) shattered the middle, while Kuldeep Yadav (3/12) took the lower order.

None of the West Indies batters look poised other than Shimron Hetmyer. He played a knock of 56 from 35 balls. However, it wasn’t enough to guarantee Pooran a win for the team. The team was totally shattered for 100 runs.

Moreover, Indian Spinner Axar Patel got the Man of the Match Award for his spell.
