In a recent interview, talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair has suggested Declan Rice to stay at West Ham United, amid Manchester United’s interest.

Trevor Sinclair, the former England winger who represented West Ham United and Manchester City said,

“I don’t think he’d (Rice) move to Manchester United, I really don’t. If you look at both teams and both set of players, he’s beteter of staying at West Ham for me.

There’s a bit of glory there at Manchester United obviously because they haev 75,000 fans in the stadium, and they are suported throughout the world. But where have you got a better chance at picking up silverware?”

Declan Rice is without any doubt the most valuable prospect at West Ham. He played a very crucial part in West Ham’s Europa League qualification last season and again played a key role in England’s run to the UEFA Euro 2020 final. The hammers have once again started the season in a good form and Rice has also been in decent form too.

West Ham United sit third in the Premier League table, level on points with 2nd placed Manchester City who have 23 points to their name. West Ham are also leading their UEFA Europa League group with 10 points having won three of the four fixtures in the group. While Rice has not missed a single minute of action in the Premier League this term.

England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has said that Declan Rice’s future at the club depends upon West Ham’s season. If the hammers manage is to keep their form until the end of the season and can finish in a Champions League spot, Declan Rice may sign a new long-term contract with the club. While the youngster is under contract with West Ham United until 2024.

Should Declan Rice stay at West Ham United?

Rice has been in outstanding form for David Moyes’ West Ham. He has recorded three goals and set up a further three goals for West Ham in 15 appearances this term across all competitions. Rice is averaging  2.7 tackles, 1.9 interceptions, 1.0 clearances per game in the Premier League.

On top of this, he has also averaged 1.1 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has been very good with the ball at his feet too with 91.7% of his passes finding his teammates. (stats via whoscored)

At just 22, Rice has a very bright career ahead of him as he is performing well for both his nation and also for his club. If West Ham manages to maintain their form and secure Champions League football for next season, it will be a good move for Rice to extend his contract with West Ham.

But with major European clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United lurking around Declan Rice. It will be a difficult job for both David Moyes and West Ham to keep hold of their star man.
