Wilder wins Championship manager of the month award for December

The newly appointed Middlesbrough manager has done exceedingly well since he arrived at the Riverside Stadium. Middlesbrough won four of their five matches in the month of December only dropping points in their draw against Stoke City. They managed to score six goals and conceded just one. Their impressive performances put them 7th on the table just a point behind the knock-off spot with a game in hand.

There is a lot of optimism in the squad and manager Wilder will be hoping to continue their good run in their next game against Blackpool. Here is what Middlesbrough manager Wilder had to say about his Championship award:

“It’s been a real team effort. It’s a been a great start and a terrific month for us. This is a nice reward for both the club and the fans, who have been fantastic. But we have to stay humble and keep working hard.

Isaiah Jones wins Championship player of the month for December

Isiah Jones won the player of the month award alongside his manager Chris Wilder for the month of December.

The 22-year-old Englishman has featured predominantly in the left wing-back position for Boro this season. The youngster played a hand in Middlesbrough keeping four clean sheets in five games. He also contributed on the other end of the pitch with a goal against Swansea and setting up both their goals against Blackpool.

He also won the penalty in the Bournemouth game which eventually turned out to be the winner. The wing-back made a darting run into the opponents half before Jaidon Anthony brought him down illegally in the penalty box.

The wing-back played a vital role in Boro’s recent performances. And will continue to be a key player for Chris Wilder.

Bournemouth resume their hunt for a knock-off spot in the new year with a game against Reading on Saturday.
