Pundit Andy Hinchcliffe claims that he was left in disbelief at what he saw from Chelsea player Cole Palmer in the first half against Middlesbrough. Chelsea locked horns with Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday. Andy was stunned that ex-City star was unable to find the net even once. Chelsea were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at the Riverside. However many watching will have been in disbelief at how that was the case.
Palmer started ahead of Broja at the striker position. Pochettino has also done this experiment earlier against Arsenal. Though it can be said that it is not his natural position but the horrific misses were his own fault. The pundit said during first half
“Massive let off. Chelsea have struggled to get anything going. He reads it ever so well, sets himself up, just trying to drift it into that far right post. It’s a major surprise he’s missed from there.
You wonder if he’s trying to catch the goalkeeper out, but of course you’ve got to hit the target to beat the ‘keeper.”
After a real big chance dropped by the 21-year old, Hinchcliffe said,
“It’s incredible because he seems to anticipated the mistake but it’s incredible that he gets underneath it. Palmer is not surprised by the ball coming back at him, he is set up and he should just be tucking that home but again he’s missed the target.”
Although, Chelsea have a second leg at home for the come back. Despite this, misses from their best player so far is not easy to digest for the fans. Hopefully he will learn from these mistakes and come back strongly in the upcoming games.
