Suryakumar says hitting boundaries eases off the pressure

Suryakumar Yadav

Mumbai Indians’ batter, Suryakumar Yadav talked about his game plan ahead of the second qualifier between Gujarat Titans and his side.

According to the swashbuckling batter, getting fours, singles, and two takes off a tremendous amount of pressure from him.

Additionally, SKY has been the most sensational batter for MI as he amassed 544 runs in 15 games.

While his start in the first half of the season was pretty slow, he nonetheless came back good in the second half.

Furthermore, Surya has also stated that he likes to play shots on the ground as he is not able to hit high sixes.

Says Suryakumar,

I am always excited for batting. I am always ready, waiting in the dugout. People ask me why am I sprinting to the crease sometimes. It is my way of warming up. I just aim to express myself and enjoy my game. If I get to hit a boundary on the first or second ball, I do not leave that opportunity. People say that T20 is about sixes. But during the course of a match, there are a lot of pressure situations. I think of ways to reduce the pressure on me and my partner. Boundaries are a way for me to do so. It is not always sixes, I hit boundaries more. Playing smart game is important.

Suryakumar says he knows where his actual shots are in a game

Moreover, SKY’s strength is playing shots along the ground and he doesn’t hit many sixes.

He also emphasized the fact that taking singles and doubles puts the opposition under pressure.

I always intend to hit fours and sixes. Or else, singles or doubles. It has always been my game. I play according to the field. I am not a power hitter. I cannot hit sixes of 100-120 m. I know where my runs are, they are on the ground. I am clear about this and I back myself no matter what the situation is.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians lost the second qualifier yesterday to Gujarat Titans by 62 runs as they were chasing a mammoth total of 234.

Gujarat Titans batted superbly yet again, with Shubman Gill registering another century in the game.

On the other hand, SKY was the best performer for MI as he made 61 from 38 balls but couldn’t take his team past the finish line.

Furthermore, this is MI’s first playoff loss after winning seven matches on the trot.
