India played its third and final T-20 against Australia this Sunday in Hyderabad. That night, India witnessed the destructive version of Suryakumar Yadav. The bloke smashed 69 off 36 balls, decorated with his trademark shots as well. He hit five boundaries and as many huge sixes, before leaving towards the pavilion.

Suryakumar played a vital role to guide India towards the win with one ball left. With the likes of Virat Kohli’s half-century, and Dinesh Kartik’s finishing touches, India reached 187, thus sealing the T20I series by 2-1.

After the match, Suryakumar revealed certain things in a chat with teammate Axar Patel. Surya said that wasn’t feeling fit during the night before the decider match. However, the medical team did scrambled a bit to give him adequate treatment ahead of the match.

If this would’ve been the world cup final, then how will I react? I can’t sit like this: Suryakumar Yadav

BCCI shared the video on their official website, where Axar told that he got to k ow Surya suffering from stomach ache and fever. Axar woke up early in the morning. He then headed towards the physio room. There was where he got to know about Surya’s health conditions.

As Axar burst out into laughter, Suryakumar said,

“Actually, you (Axar) were also facing this problem. I got to know this during the team meeting.”

Suryakumar continued,

“There was a little issue. The weather changed and now we have started travelling as well. So I had a stomach ache and then fever.”

Suryakumar also said,

“At the same time, I knew this one is the decider. So I told my doctor and physio, ‘If this would’ve been the world cup final, then how will I react? I can’t sit like this.’ So I told them, ‘do anything – give me any medicine, injection – do everything you can to get me fit for the game.’

Suryakumar added,

“(And) once you have worn the jersey and are on the ground then the emotion is different.”

Axar was jovial with answers. He said that apparently whoever have had the same issues, showcased some outstanding performances in the third T20I.

Axar said,

“Whatever pill you took, seems something else. I think whoever was having issues at night, it was going to be their day.”

Axar came into the team as a substitute for injured Ravindra Jadeja. However, he ended this series on a better note. In the third match, he took 3 wickets in four overs, giving just 33 runs. He lifted the player-of-the-series award too. It’s his first award in his international career.
