Suryakumar Yadav relishes great season with bat for MI

Suryakumar Yadav

Mumbai Indians’ star batsman, Suryakumar Yadav has relished his greatest-ever IPL season with the bat for his side.

While MI may have failed to reach the final of the IPL, Suryakumar scored the most runs for his team.

In the second qualifier against Gujarat Titans, he was looking to single-handedly win the game for his side.

But, it was not to be as he was dismissed in the middle overs and the game ended right there for MI.

This was where MI lost the plot and wickets started tumbling at regular intervals.

Additionally, Surya also crossed the 600-run mark in the IPL which is his best number to date in the tournament.

Previously, his best IPL season was in 2018 wherein he scored 512 runs in 14 games. And this year, he has scored 605 runs in 16 games for MI.

The only other batsman to reach 600 runs in the IPL for Mumbai Indians is former player and skipper of the franchise, Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar scored 618 runs way back in 2010 which was the most by a Mumbai batter.

Suryakumar finds form after a couple of harrowing months in international cricket

Before the IPL, Suryakumar was not in the best of forms for the national side a few months back.

He also accumulated a horrible record of three successive ducks in the series and looked rusty with the bat.

But, in this season of the IPL, his runs have come at an average of 43.21 and he also had a healthy strike rate of 181.13.

Moreover, this is the highest average and strike rate this season among batters with more than 450 runs.

Because of Surya’s brilliance, Mumbai Indians reached the 4th spot in the points table but now they cannot add a sixth title to their tally.
