Tanguy Ndombele set to join Napoli on loan

Tanguy Ndombele looks to near the end of his Tottenham Hotspur career after they agreed on a loan deal with Serie A giants Napoli.

Antonio Conte has finally decided that the French midfielder has no place in his plans. Ndombele went on loan to Lyon in the January window but failed to impress there. He was later excluded from Tottenham’s preseason training this summer. Giovani Lo Celso (who has also moved to Villareal on loan), Harry Winks and Sergio Regulion were also among the absentees.

After Tottenham Hotspur accepted the offer from Napoli, Tanguy Ndombele is reportedly eager to join with the Serie A team. Spurs and the Azzurri have been in discussions over the past few weeks, and a deal to loan the Frenchman with a purchase option is almost complete.

It is set to be a loan with an option to buy. The option will become a permanent one if Napoli make it to the Champions League places by the end of the season.

Ndombele and his time at Spurs

The French midfielder has displayed some glimpses of his ability during his time in the Premier League. Ndombele has shown that he is one of the most gifted midfielders in the world.

However, his work rate and stamina have often been suspect. It has led to him not finding a regular starting role with 5 Tottenham managers.

Ndombele was brought in by erstwhile Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to replace the mercurial Moussa Dembele. He is their record signing, but failed to fulfil any expectations.

However, it is a fresh start for Ndombele at a new club now. He will replace the departing Fabian Ruiz at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli is fighting for honours this season. They narrowly missed the title by seven points last time out, with Inter finishing second by five points.
