The tough battle to reach the WTC final

The Test series of different cricketing nations is on and everyone wants to grab a spot for next year’s final.

Currently, Australia and South Africa are dominating the WTC points table.

India is holding the third spot in the table and would have to give it their all if they are to win the Edgbaston Test.

They have to play a total of seven Tests. After England, they will host Australia for a four-match Test series and then go to Bangladesh to play two Tests.

If India manages to win all seven, they can then have a points percentage of 74.53 which will open up the qualification gates.

Even if India loses 1 or 2 matches in this period, they will maintain a healthy percentage which should be enough for them to make it to the final.

The defending champions, New Zealand have already slipped out of contention.

Their recent 3-0 loss to England has made it impossible for them to qualify for the finals.

England too doesn’t look like a contender for the final even if they manage to win all of their matches.

They will just have a percentage of just over 50 which is not enough.

There may be just a shot for both Pakistan and Sri Lanka to enter the finals if they play and win well.

The leaders, Australia and South Africa have some pretty difficult factors to keep in mind if they want to get a berth for the final.

For Australia, they need to win at least two Test matches in Asia to gain a percentage of 65.

Subsequently, South Africa needs to win one away series to have a percentage of above 65.
