Thomas Tuchel demands a new striker to be signed in January by Chelsea

As per reports, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has demanded that the club sign a new striker in the next transfer window. The next transfer window is in January and Tuchel now wants another striker at his disposal.

Chelsea brought in star striker, Romelu Lukaku in August this season. The Blues spent a club-record £97.5m on the Belgium international. He has scored four times in 11 appearances for the London Giants since his return.

However, Lukaku has become injury prone with two injuries already. He seems to be the only striker Tuchel depends on with Kai Havertz out of form. Meanwhile, Timo Werner’s hamstring injury has sidelined him as a potential replacement in the Belgian’s absence.

Thomas Tuchel will be pushing Chelsea to sign a striker as soon as the window opens

Tuchel seems to be managing well despite his strikers’ absence. The Blues managed to thrash Norwich 7-0 last week. However, without a good forward line he may as well face a lot of problems in the future.

Chelsea let go off their back up strikers Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham to AC Milan and AS Roma respectively, in the summer. This has now left the Blues without potential strikers.

Kai Havertz is expected to fill in Lukaku’s shoes, however, his current form seems to be on the lower side with just 1 goal in 8 Premier League appearances. Meanwhile, Tuchel has openly talked abut his interest in signing Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Braut Haaland.

“It is our information that he [Tuchel] has requested from the club that they recruit a striker in the January window,” – said transfer expert Ian McGarry on The Transfer Window Podcast.

He further added: “From what I’m told, there is no definite shortlist that’s been formulated as yet, but you can see the point that they’ve been heavily reliant on Lukaku in such a short space of time since he arrived back at the club for his second spell.

This has been significantly influenced now as well by the fact Romelu Lukaku will miss at least two games but maybe up to a month in the coming weeks, as well as Timo Werner being out as well.”

Even after having Lukaku and Werner, the Blues wants to bolster their attacking line. With this, their squad depth will be one of the deepest in the Premier League.
