According to the Guardian, Thomas Tuchel expects Andreas Christensen to sign an extension at Chelsea. The 25-year-old and his representatives are working for renewal for quite a few months now. However, they are unable to finalize and complete the extensions. While several reports state that following his contract situation, Thomas Tuchel is also not giving Andreas Christensen enough time on the pitch. Christensen does not have any minutes under his belt since Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Burnley in the Premier League on November 6.

Tuchel hopes that his treatment of Christensen may speed up the negotiations and finalize the deal. Christensen still has a future at the club and has no reason to leave Chelsea at this point. Many are wondering why there is such a delay in the process. However, Thomas Tuchel’s treatment of Andreas Christensen can go both ways either renewing or leaving the club. However, leaving Chelsea is not an option for any player of the club considering how strong they are in all competitions.

Christensen may also want to stay at the club but his representatives may not be happy with the compensation he is getting. While Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel had this to say on this situation,

“My understanding was that it’s a matter of a very short period before we have good news. As I understood it the club wants the same, the player wants the same, the coach wants the same: to stay. That’s why we need the commitment and then we can continue.”

Why Andreas Christensen is important for Thomas Tuchel and his side?

Christensen was not performing up to the mark until one-day Tuchel arrived. the German boss completely changed Andreas Christensen’s graph at Chelsea. As soon the defender turned out to be one of the important players at the club. The Blues are praised massively for their defensive organization and defensive records. However, losing a key defender won’t be of any help to the club and will cause them to suffer.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte noted in 2018 that Christensen has shown “great maturity,” and that he has “a lot of faith in him.” Christensen is a central defender who is recognized for his serenity in possession, precision passing, and aerial domination. With an ageing Thiago Silva, there’s only one similar player to the Brazilian international in the squad and that is Andreas Christensen. His good form under Conte also led many people to believe that he can emerge as the club captain in the future.

It is very important for the Danish international and the club to sort out the talks at the earliest. Since both the parties want the same, this situation should not have been pushed so far. However, Thomas Tuchel not giving Andreas Christensen enough game time may accelerate the process. As Tuchel wants Christensen to show his commitment to the club by agreeing to negotiations at the earliest. It is also important for the player to get over this situation to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
