According to reports, Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to return to Chelsea in the summer, despite being on loan with AC Milan until 2023. Tiemoue Bakayoko joined the European champions Chelsea back in the summer of 2017 for a reported fee of £40 million. He was signed to partner N’Golo Kanté in the middle of the park. Expectations from the Chelsea faithful were high around the French deep line midfielder. But the midfielder has been nothing short of disappointing for Chelsea.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has made a total of 43 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea. In this time he has recorded three goals and three assists. (stats via Transfermarkt) The French midfielder has been loaned out to two Italian sides in the past few seasons.

Bakayoko joined AC Milan on loan back in the summer of 2018. He was then loaned out to his former side Monaco in the French league back in the 2019-20 season. Last season the midfielder then joined Italian side Napoli on loan. At the start of this season, the midfielder rejoined AC Milan on a two-year loan deal.

But Bakayoko looks set to return to his parent club Chelsea in the summer before the end of his two-year loan deal. The midfielder has failed to reach the rights he conquered during the 2016-17 season with AS Monaco.

Bakayoko will return to Chelsea“: Daniele Triolo

Pianet Milan journalist Daniele Triolo talking to Toro News about on-loan Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, he said:

“Pobega went to Turin on loan because Pioli likes him, but last summer he didn’t think he was ready to play in a two-man half,”

“At the end of the season, there are every intention of bringing him back to Milan also because Bakayoko will return to Chelsea and also numerically needs another midfielder who can play for the place with Tonali and Bennacer.” he added.

Does Tiemoue Bakayoko have a future with The Blues?

Bakayoko has made a total of 17 appearances across all competitions for AC Milan this term. He is yet to record any goal involvements during his time. (stats via Transfermarkt) The French midfielder is the 4th choice midfielder at the Italian club. The likes of Tonali, Bennacer and Kessie are all above Bakayoko on the pecking order.

While Bakayoko’s contract with the European champions runs until 2024. But the Bakayoko certainly needs to certainly look for a permanent switch away from the Chelsea for good in the summer.
