According to Simon Jordan, Brentford striker and Chelsea Ivan Toney the third best striker in the Premier League.
Toney is having a sensational individual season, scoring 17 goals and provided 5 assists in 27 apperances for Brentford. He made his England debut in Wembley against Ukraine on Sunday.
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported to GiveMeSports that Chelsea are the “strongest contender” in the race to sign Tooney in the summer. However, it will be interesting to see if he leaves Brentford in the next transfer window.
talkSPORT pundit Jordan praised Toney for his individual brilliance. He said :-
“I’m a huge Ivan Toney fan. I think he is outside of Harry Kane, and Erling Haaland as well, the best centre-forward in the Premier League and one of the best centre-forwards in Europe,
“He suffers from playing for a smaller club in people’s minds. He suffered from the preconceived perception when he came out of the Championship that he was an unorthodox player, and how would he get on with the Premier League? Well how he gets on with the Premier League is cause people absolute mayhem.”
Toney’s impact this season is quite “underrated”, as he scored more goals than Marcos Rashford, Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka. But, he doesn’t get much of a chance for The Three lions due to Kane’s presence.
Chelsea are looking for a striker and Tooney can be a ideal candidate for the Blues. The Brentford No.9 can fix the key problems at Stanford Bridge next season.
However, Tooney has been charged by the FA for breaking the betting rules with an alleged 262 charges against him.
