Here we have with us the Tottenham Hotspur player ratings as they overcome Brighton & Hove Albion in their league fixture. Cristian Romero and Harry Kane got onto the scoresheet and Spurs keep their hopes alive of being in the top four. Harry Kane has now scored 95 goals in 139 appearances in away games and is the all-time top-scorer in away games in the league beating Rooney despite playing 104 fewer matches.

Davinson Sanchez made an early error of holding on to the ball. Harry Kane’s pressure got the better of Sanchez and the goal was open for Kane to score from a tight angle. However, Kane rolled it wide and even the 28-year-old couldn’t believe that.

Tottenham opened the scoring just before half-time in the 37th minute. Reguilon passed deflected and landed straight into the feet of Heung-Min Son. He was unable to find a shooting angle and therefore laid the ball to Kulusevski. The Swedish international took the shot first-time but the ball was deflected by Cristian Romero’s presence in the box and went into the back of the net.

For the 2nd goal, Bentancur carried the ball from his own box till the halfway line before releasing to Harry Kane. The English forward had too much time because of his well-timed run and calmly finished at the near post for his record-breaking goal. On the other hand, Brighton failed to register even a shot on target and Lloris evidently had a stress-free game.

Tottenham Hotspur player ratings vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Hugo Lloris – 6/10

Was never troubled with shot-stopping and only to stop crosses and shout instructions at his teammates.

Cristian Romero – 8/10

Was excellent throughout the game but got booked for his foul on Mac Allister. Got his first goal for Spurs in a weird fashion with a deflection.

Eric Dier – 8/10

Need bandaging after taking a blow in his face by Neal Maupay. Still, he played well throughout and also handled headers despite needing bandages.

Ben Davies – 7/10

Excellent block to keep Maupay quiet and great work to make some progress in the game with his ball carrying and also good defensive work.

Matt Doherty – 6/10

Had a few occasions where he could have done more with the ball and the time he had on the right flank. However, he failed to put accurate crosses in the box.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7/10

Carried the ball from his own box to finally release Harry Kane for the second goal. However, he had a hairy moment in the first half but still continued well in the second half.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7/10

Shielded his defense well and also played a part in the build-up to the second goal. However, his passing could have been better on the night.

Sergio Reguilon – 6/10

Got booked for a foul on Mac Allister and was decent throughout the game. Could have increased the scoring but couldn’t finish the chance.

Dejan Kulusevski – 7/10

Registered himself another assist when his shot was deflected by Romero before the ball ended up in the net. He also could have got himself a goal as he did all the work but took a shot straight to Davinson Sanchez.

Harry Kane – 7/10

Could have gotten himself one more goal if he had scored in an open goal. Moreover, he also lost the ball in the first half quite a few times. However, came back in the second half, timing his run to perfection and breaking a massive record with his goal.

Heung-Min Son – 5/10

Was far away from his best performances and did not look confident enough. However, he had good ideas in the second half before getting subbed off.

Substitutes

Lucas Moura – 5/10

Couldn’t flourish in the 10 minutes he got on the pitch.

Emerson Royal – 5/10

Did not have much time to make an impact on the game

Steven Bergwijn – N/A
