As Tottenham prepare for a future without Hugo Lloris, Manchester United player Dean Henderson has emerged as one of the choices.
Tottenham Hotspur has made their plans for a future without Hugo Lloris, according to the Daily Mail. The contract of the veteran goalkeeper in North London ends after the season, and he has yet to negotiate a new deal with the club.
The Lilywhites look to have begun their search for a replacement as well, with Dean Henderson surfacing as one of two contenders identified as possible Lloris replacements.
Tottenham is aware of Henderson’s fragile status at Manchester United. Where he has battled to secure a starting spot after returning from a successful loan spell with Sheffield United. In the last two years, he has only made 27 competitive appearances for Manchester United, failing to replace David de Gea in goal.
Henderson is unlikely to make his breakthrough at United anytime soon, with the Spaniard performing better than ever this season. He’s been linked with a transfer away from United. With Tottenham among the teams interested in signing him.
Following Antonio Conte’s hiring, the Lilywhites are expecting a big defensive revamp shortly. While the club did recruit Pierluigi Gollini in the summer. It looks that Fabio Paratici wants to give the Italian greater competition next season.
Several outstanding goalkeepers, notably England’s Jordan Pickford. Have been linked with transfers to the North London powerhouse. They are also allegedly chasing Andre Onana of Ajax. Who is expected to be the cheapest option on the market.
Dean Henderson being the future for Tottenham
Tottenham, on the other hand, may have found a happy medium in Henderson. The Manchester United prodigy is unlikely to be expensive, but he does have English football experience. He’s also ambitious and full of promise, making him an excellent long-term investment for the team.
Spurs will, however, have heavy competition in their pursuit of Henderson. Newcastle United are reportedly contemplating a €20 million bid. While Barcelona is also interested in signing the Englishman. Manchester United may have second thoughts about selling their best player to their immediate rivals.
So it’ll come as no surprise if Tottenham turns to their choice — Sam Johnstone – in the forthcoming January transfer window.
While this season in the Premier League, Dean Henderson hasn’t started a single game. Due to this the sample size to figure out the players form is small. Looking at his stats from the previous season. He started 12 games in the league while conceding 0.9 per game.
While averaging nearly 3.1 saves per 90 and having 100% successful runs out per game. One must state that all goals scored against him were only inside the box.
While being on 24 years old it shows that the player has a high ceiling. If any club would sign the player, it would be quite the investment for the team. Mainly due to their future.
Tottenham have the ability to do their best to make this deal come through. The player isn’t receiving the apt amount of game time that will help Tottenham to sign Dean Henderson.
