Arsenal are heavily linked with a transfer for Aston Villa man Douglas Luiz in recent days. However, some transfer insiders have now provided the information about the deal between Arsenal and Luiz. The Gunners are looking to bolster their midfield options as Thomas Partey is becoming more injury-prone. They are looking for a mate for Declan Rice in order to extract his true potential in the middle of the park. They have been linked with a number of midfielders. Though, Gunners are having a remarkable interest in Luiz. They also tried to secure his move in the summer of 2022. However, Aston Villa managed to restrict him from a move.
Mikel Arteta’s interest in the Brazilian has still not diminished and he still wants the move. Though, it will not be an easy one as Villa are in a much stronger position than the previous year. Moreover, the financial burden on Arsenal will also be more than what they expected last year. TeamTalk share the latest update saying insiders close to the deal are ‘dismissing’ a deal between the two parties because of the FFP.
Arsenal have other cheaper options available than Luiz
The Gunners are also searching for a deal with Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi. Though, he is not considering a move away from the Spanish side for some time. Therefore, this deal is also very unlikely to happen. Arsenal have identified other options as well like Arthur Vermeeren and Pablo Mari from Sao Paulo. Moreover, they are also speculating a move for Man City star Kalvin Phillips in the January window. It will be interesting to see if the Sky Blues release their man to a direct title rivals. In the recent days, some reports are also suggesting that Edu Gaspar is a big fan of Ruben Neves and wants him for a season long loan from Saudi side Al Hilal.
