Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has hinted at a summer move, and Chelsea fans want him at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ fans on social media are urging their club to snap up the French international. Pogba, who is with France on international duty recently expressed his disappointment over United’s displays this season. While he looks set to depart, Tuchel has kept away himself from the Pogba talks.
Pogba is enduring another trophy-less season with United and is growing frustrated over the same. The midfielder joined the Red Devils for a whopping £89.3 million fee in 2016. Since then, the Frenchman has experienced quite an assorted stint at the premier league club. As a result, he has made himself available for a transfer this summer. Furthermore, two of the premier league clubs have already registered their interest as well.
While with France, Pogba said,
“You have to be honest, and these last five seasons have not satisfied me — really not at all. This year is dead, and we won’t win anything. Whether it’s with Manchester United or another club, I want to win trophies. I get along very well with [France manager Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know — but at Manchester United, do I really have a role? I ask the question, but I don’t have an answer”.
His comments are loud and clear that he is ready to leave United in order to win accolades.
Chelsea fans promptly remember their club’s failed attempt to land Pogba seven years ago. The supporters are now excited over the prospect of new owners making Pogba their statement signing. However, Tuchel has his plans ready for Chelsea’s future in midfield and is least interested in acquiring the services of Pogba.

Chelsea fans can be justified to some extent in their calls for the club to sign Paul Pogba. Two of Chelsea’s pivotal midfielders are nearing the twilight of their peaks in Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Moreover, their contracts also expire by the summer of 2023. Tuchel knows he needs to plan for their replacements, as a failure would crumble the club’s set-up.
But Thomas Tuchel is a man of absolute vision and has Conor Gallagher in his mind to run the Chelsea midfield. The academy graduate is currently on-loan at Crystal Palace and has worked wonders with the Eagles this season. Gallagher has played 30 games for Palace so far this season, starting 29 out of them. His output has been brilliant as well, scoring 8 and assisting 5 in those 30 appearances. Moreover, all of his 8 strikes have come in the premier league.
While such a prodigy is developing massively, Tuchel is bound to reward him with a place in the first team next season. It would also prove to be a huge trick for Chelsea to rely on Gallagher, rather than signing Pogba on a lucrative contract.
But Chelsea fans should not forget the importance of the academy in the club’s recent success. There are players at Chelsea who have come from the academy, performing far better than Pogba at the moment. Denying Gallagher a chance with the Chelsea first-team would send a discouraging message across Cobham as well.
Thomas Tuchel is making sure that the academy players who are out on loan and performing well get their chance at Chelsea. The German also wants to ensure that the new owners are not drawn away by the charming opportunity to sign Pogba. A gamble with Gallagher is almost risk-free for Chelsea, as compared to Paul Pogba who has failed to live up to the expectations.
