Turkish ‘Modric’ in talks with Arsenal

Turkish international Orkun Kokcu- the new ‘Modric’ has been linked to Arsenal. Kokcu who plays for Feyenoord currently has been a long-time target of the Gunners.

Feyenoord could apparently sell the player for £12 million. Juventus have also targeted this talented individual.

Former Eredivisie favorite Ali Boussaboun, a few weeks back had speculated his value to be up to “50 or 60 million”. He added that if he could follow the same route as Robin Van Persie, he could very well be priced at such a high value.

However, whatever he be valued in the future, for now, he would have to settle for a much lower price. Reports from Italy suggest that Kokcu was also on the radar of Juventus. The Italian giants also recently held talks with the youngster’s father.

Arsenal had even held talks with the midfielder back in March 2020. If the Gunners were to have gone forward with the deal, they would have to pay £23 million- reports The Mail.

Arsenal, hence, would be tempted to obtain the Turkish international at half that price. The addition of Kokcu would bolster their midfield.

Can he become the next ‘Modric’ in Arsenal?

Kokcu is really the player to look out for this season. He has eight assists and nine goals under his belt this season. Also, Kokcu is apparently playing the best football of this career.

Former Juventus player Momo Sissoko has also vouched for this player to play for Juventus.

He says,

” He won’t cost much, he has a low salary and, for me, he is the right player for Juventus.”

Sissoko even went to the limits of comparing him to one of the greatest playmakers in the 21st century. He compared him to Ballon D’Or winner Luka Modric.

Sissoko went on to add,

“For me, (Kokcu) has the same quality of play. He has the potential to reach (Modric’s) level.”
