Manchester United have reportedly shown their interest in signing the England international right back Kieran Trippier from Athletico Madrid in January.

The Red Devils were showing their interest in signing Trippier this summer. They have offered the defender a €21 million (£18 million) bid. But, the Spanish outfit have rejected their offer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to improve his options at right-back in order to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Man United will go back in for Trippier when the transfer window reopens, despite Atletico Madrid being adamant that they want to keep him.

The report is claiming that the 30-year-old will only leave the Spanish capital if his €40m (£34m) release clause is met.

Will Kieran Trippier be able to make it to Manchester United or not?

Kieran Trippier left for Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspurs in 2019. He has appeared on 71 occasions for the club since then.

Trippier’s had an impressive campaign with England at Euro 2020. The reports claim he wants to move back home, and United is his preferred destination.

Solskjaer has already allowed youngster Brandon Williams to join Premier League new boys Norwich on loan to gain top-flight experience.

And Dalot’s exit would have left United with only Wan-Bissaka at right back for their title push.

Manchester United will be thinking of offering a deal of over £30 million to Atletico Madrid’s center back.

Trippier’s England team-mate has also recently joined the Red Devils for £75 from Dortmund. They have also signed France’s one of the best center half Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £42.7 million this summer.

Manchester United have recently signed the Portuguese international captain and ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo from the Serie A giants Juventus for £19.7 million.

Atletico Madrid are also more likely to cash in on Trippier in the January transfer window. They have added Antoine Griezmann to their wage bill late in the window. But it remains to be seen whether they are willing to lower their valuation for the English international. He had a certain degree of success under Diego Simeone.
