Gujarat Titans’ allrounder, Vijay Shankar has heaped massive praise on teammate Shubman Gill after GT’s win in the second qualifier.

Notably, Gill is in the prime of his life and is playing well in this season of the IPL. He is now the owner of the orange cap as well with 851 runs in 16 games.

Gill’s power-hitting in the first innings gave Gujarat an immense boost as they posted 233 on the board.

Mumbai Indians were asked to chase down 234 runs but they faltered and were bowled out at 171.

Shankar has complimented Gill’s ability to find the gaps in the powerplay overs. Additionally, Gill has also hit the joint-most sixes this IPL which is 33.

He is also the second Indian batsman after Kohli to hit three or more tons in an IPL season.

Shankar praises Gill’s ability and has called him one of the best cricketers

Says Shankar on Gill,

He has amazing work ethics, that’s why he is one of the best cricketers right now, he is hitting those sixes like he’s batting in Test cricket. The way he practices is something that’s important. Every practice session he goes out there and does what he wants, he practices with purpose. Every time he turns up for a game, it’s so lovely to see him switch on from ball one.

Adding further, he says,

He is able to do both hit sixes and find the gaps in the powerplay, which I think is his biggest strength. He can hit those sixes, there was an innings where he scored 90 (101 against SRH) and had just one six. He has the ability to do both and he knows when to use what, which is a highlight of a top cricketer.

While CSK reached the final by beating GT in the first qualifier by 15 runs at Chennai, GT defeated MI.

In the team battle between CSK and GT, it is GT who has emerged victorious thrice while CSK has defeated them only once.
