Virat Kohli opened up his struggle with mental health

Virat Kohli is a huge name in Indian cricket undoubtedly. The contributions he has for his team is enough to celebrate it forever. But who can ever imagine that “King” Kohli has struggled with mental health throughout his career!

Well, the 33-years old Kohli told such things to the Indian Express on Thursday. Virat Kohli has been a face of aggression in Indian cricket. However, the way he ruled the World with his bay, for years, it solely took his team to the top on many occasions. Unfortunately, this man is going through a tough phase with the bat. It has raised tons of questions on his spot in the team. Not only that, he released himself from the test Captaincy, which led him to get dethroned from the white ball captaincy too just after the T-20 WC 2021.

To the Indian Express, Virat Kohli spoke about how the intensity of pressure has hampered his metal heath. He said in an recently published interview,

“I personally have experienced times when even in a room full of people who support and love me, I felt alone, and I am sure that this is a feeling that a lot of people can relate to.”
“It is definitely a serious issue and as much as we try to be strong at all times, it can tear you apart.”

However, Kohli also mentioned the importance of rest for everyone athletes. It helps their body to rest and recover. Connecting to the “core self” is the utmost important thing according to Kohli. He added,

“If you lose that connection, it wouldn’t take very long for other things to crumble around you.”

Kohli’s comments came few months after his revelations on how he struggled in the 2014 tour in England. His inability to score runs used to trigger him a lot.

On February, Kohli said on a podcast with English commentator Mark Nicholas,

“It’s not a great feeling to wake up knowing that you won’t be able to score runs… I felt I was the loneliest guy in the world.”

Kohli, not scoring a single century in any format since 2019 has created a fuss amongst the critics.

However, Kohli took a break in the recent West Indies tour. Nonetheless, he will be back in team India’s T20 squad for the Asia Cup. India’s Campaign will start on 28th August where they will face Pakistan at Dubai International Stadium.
