Vitaly Janelt has told Sky Sports that his favourite club is Manchester United and he would like to play in the Premier League for his whole career. Vitaly also has a profile that fits Manchester United‘s requirement of a defensive midfielder. United’s need for a defensive midfielder is been highlighted this season more than ever. It is a problem that they have been facing for the past 4-5 years.

According to The Mail, Declan Rice is not available for sale even at €100 million who is a primary target of United. West Ham are determined to build a team around Declan Rice. Moreover, the Hammers believe that with Rice they can be a greater threat. Liverpool also suffered their first loss of the season against West Ham. It is a similar situation in the case of Wilfred Ndidi who is another option United are interested in. However, signing either of them would cost United a fortune and they have already spent a lot in the summer transfer window.

Vitaly Janelt’s statement about United can make another option open for the Red Devils. Brentford are performing excellent this season for a team that’s newly promoted. In addition, they have made a statement after defeating Arsenal on opening day and drawing Liverpool 3-3 at home. Vitaly Janelt has played an important role in Brentford’s all big matches this season. He has shown that he is capable of staying and raising his standards in the Premier League.

Why Vitaly can be a success at United?

Brentford signed Vitaly Janelt in 2020 who has been a regular starter at the club since then. The 23-year-old helped the club win promotion by starting 39 matches scoring 4 goals and assisting 3. He has performed quite well in his eight appearances at the top-flight. He also scored his only goal against Liverpool in the Brentford Community Stadium. Vitaly Janelt completes 2.5 tackles per game in the league which is more than any other United player (stats via whoscored).

Vitaly also featured in Brentford’s friendly fixture against United in July that ended in a 2-2 draw. Brentford boss Thomas Frank also had some praising words for Vitaly after their win against Nottingham Forest. He told West London Sport,

“I think they call him in German ‘Da Machine’,

“He is top. What a player, what a mentality, works so hard, good on the ball, exactly what I want from a number six, the way I want to play.”

Should United shift their focus to the Brentford star?

Although United have not shown any interest in signing Vitaly, he will be a great alternative for an expensive Declan Rice and Wilfred Ndidi. Janelt can also thrive with a new manager appointment at Old Trafford. United should keep their tabs open for Vitaly and should consider signing if an opportunity arises.

Moreover, United are in desperate need of signing a defensive midfielder as they have failed to get good results despite the world-class talent in their squad. He will perform at his 100% because Manchester United is his favourite club as he has admitted. Vitaly will be more motivated than ever to prove his worth for United when Brentford faces Manchester United next month.
