Wasim Akram ahead of Asia Cup: It won’t be easy for India or any team

Asia Cup

Former cricketer of Pakistan Wasim Akram believes it won’t be easy for India or any team to win the Asia Cup 2023.

Asia Cup 2023 is on the verge of its beginning. The inaugural match is between Pakistan and Nepal on Wednesday, August 30th.

What did Wasim Akram say?

Every cricket fan will have a blast this year as we witness two much-awaited contests. To begin with, the Asia Cup 2023, followed by the World Cup 2023. In the talks around favorites to win this season of Asia Cup 2023, Wasim Akram, in an interview, stated:

“Last time we had predicted an India versus Pakistan final but Sri Lanka won the competition. All three teams are dangerous — anyone can win on their day. There are other teams competing too. Last time Sri Lanka won the title, India even failed to make it to the final”

He further added

“This is a good idea by ACC to have a 50-over Asia Cup because right after it we have the World Cup. It is a long tournament — not a one-off that you can enter the semi-finals after winning one game. You have to win games to get on top. You have to take it game by game. Also, it is a 50-over competition (this time) not T20, which means different mindset and fitness will be required”

While talking about team India, Wasim Akram added

“I think they are trying different things, new players especially in the T20 format, also a new captain. They have a balanced squad. But it will not be easy for India or any team”

Two countries will jointly be the presenters of Asia Cup 2023. A total of 13 ODI matches will occur, out of which Pakistan will host four and Sri Lanka the other nine games.
