Chelsea Star Wesley Fofana is expected to replace Raphael Varane for the France National Team.

Fofana might get his first French call-up in the fourth-coming international break. He is the favorite to succeed the veteran defender. Varane has recently retired from international football and Didier Deschamps will call young players for national duties.

On Thursday afternoon, Deschamps will announce the team for this month’s international break. However, according to Metro, Fofana has appeared as a favorite to replace Raphael Varane in the national team. Before retiring, Varane participated in two World Cups they won the 2018 World Cup in Russia. But the coach will find a difficulty to find a proper replacement for Varane in their centre-back position.

Wesley Fofana is likely to be called up at France National Team as Varane’s replacement. The 22-year-old has had a difficult season since joining Chelsea. Fofana joined the Blues from Leicester City in August 2022. He missed the first half of the season with injuries. But Fofana is now playing a pivotal role in recent matches. He scored an important goal against Leeds United, as Chelsea have won 3 consecutive matches. The blues are looking shift momentum in the second half of the season.

With Fofana’s presence, Chelsea have kept two clean sheets in the past four games. Fofana has made an exceptional comeback in Blues defensive line.

However, France have a lot of option for centre-back roles. The likes of William Saliba, Jules Kounde, Ibrahima Konate, and Mohamed Simakan are also their for contention. But Fofana is the most probable candidate to replace Varane. His comeback with Chelsea can be a great morale booster for upcoming games.
