West Bromwich loanee Hugill set to join Cardiff City

Jordan Hugill’s loan at West Bromwich will be cut short, according to John Percy of the Telegraph.

The Norwich City striker is expected to join Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season. Hugill has fallen out of favour at West Bromwich after scoring only one goal all season as a result of Daryl Dike’s arrival.

“Cardiff City are signing Norwich striker Jordan Hugill on loan,” Percy said on his personal Twitter.

Hugill has been out of favour for a long time under Valerien Ismael in West Bromwich

Daryl Dike’s debut was the final nail in the coffin. But Andy Carroll’s introduction today must have rubbed salt to the wounds of the former Premier League striker. It’s a pity his Albion career has ended the way it has. He gave everything for the shirt when he was on the field. But luck never seemed to be on his side for West Bromwich

It’s fantastic news for West Bromwich that he’ll no longer be on the payroll. Freeing up space in the squad for a possible late transfer window signing — however unlikely that may be.

Hugill, for one, will be overjoyed since all he wants to do is play football. And he would have been devastated if he had to sit out the remainder of the season.

Hopefully, things will go better for him in Wales. Given his character has never been questioned throughout his tenure at the club.

Hugill was loaned to West Bromwich Albion for the first part of the 2021/22 season. He scored one goal in 20 Championship appearances for the Baggies this season.

Hugill joins Doughty, Cody Drameh from Leeds United, and Tommy Doyle from Manchester City as Cardiff’s fourth January signing. It’s the second Cardiff signing of the weekend, following Alfie Doughty’s loan move from Stoke City to the Welsh capital.
