Will Lampard be the revival of Aubameyang at Chelsea?

Frank Lampard

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang future at Chelsea has been the subject of much speculation. With the striker out of favor under both previous managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. However, the arrival of Frank Lampard as caretaker manager could see a change in fortunes for the Gabonese forward.

Aubameyang has struggled for form this season. He has scored just three goals in 13 Premier League appearances and 6 Champions league appearances. Infact, he wasn’t even registered for the Champions league knockout stages, which Chelsea eventuall got knocked out from by Real Madrid.

However, Lampard’s appointment as caretaker manager could give Aubameyang a new lease of life at Chelsea. The former Blues midfielder has a reputation for getting the best out of his strikers. He has worked successfully with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud during his previous stint as manager.

What lies ahead in the future of Aubameyang?

According to reports, Aubameyang has been pretty unsatisfied with the game time he has gotten this season. He has looked troubled in some matches and has been clearly out of favour at Chelsea. He is being linked with different clubs and a potential exit might be on the cards for the Gabonese forward in the summer.

But, Lampard’s arrival could also signal a change in tactics for Chelsea. With the team expected to play a more attacking style of football under his leadership. This could provide Aubameyang with the opportunities he needs to rediscover his goal-scoring form and show his class on the pitch. And he could go on to become an integral part of the team once again.

Only time will tell what Lampard’s appointment means for Aubameyang’s future at Chelsea. But the striker will no doubt be hoping for a chance to prove himself under the new manager and earn a reprieve at the club.
