Arsenal may look to offload the young Frenchman William Saliba who is currently on loan at Olympique Marseille.

Arsenal bought Saliba in the summer of 2019 for £27m when Unai Emery was still the Gunners’ boss. Almost 3 seasons passed and Saliba is yet to make a competitive appearance for the red side of North London. In the meantime, he had two previous successful loan spells at A.S.S.E. and OGC Nice. Currently having another stellar season for OM who are currently second in Ligue 1 table just behind PSG.

How can Arsenal tackle this William Saliba situation?

Back at Arsenal, Arteta is reluctant in breaking the current centre-half pair of Ben White and Gabriel Magalhães. If the right offer comes through the door, Arsenal might end up selling Saliba. Right now he is under contract for the London club until June 2024. In the 2021-22 season, till now, he made a total of 33 appearances in Ligue 1, 6 apps in the Europa League, 5 in the newly formed Conference league, and 3 in Coupe de France. He also featured in Ligue 1 Team of the Week numerous times this season. Also he is one of the most sought-after young players in the market, there’s no doubt. He also made his international debut for France last month during the international break.

Arsenal is back in the contention for Top 4 and European football next season for the Gunners looks quite a possibility. Arsenal will look to bolster several positions before the start of next season. For the centre back position, they can either retain the services of Saliba or might sell and use the money to buy players in similar or other positions.

Marseille is the first one in the line to make Saliba’s loan move permanent. As it stands, Saliba will be grouping with Arsenal again after this season ends.
