World Test

The ICC confirmed that the World Test Championship final is to be held at The Oval from June 7 to 11 with June 12 being the reserve day for the final match. The Oval has hosted over 100 matches but this will be the one of biggest matches being hosted by The Oval. The top two sides of the WTC table will clash for the title.

Front-runners for the World Test Championship

Australia and India are the table toppers at the moment and they both meet each in a 4-match test series in India. This series is likely to select the two teams for the big event. There are other four teams that are in the qualification race to the final. They are South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and West Indies. The chances for these teams are less than the top two teams

Pat Cummins’s words on securing the place in final

“The prospect of playing in the World Test Championship Final has been a big motivator for us over the last couple of years, more so now having missed out on over rates last time. Play at a neutral venue like The Oval adds another element for both sides who make the Final. It’s exciting and has been a goal of ours for a while now.”

Indian captain Rohit Sharma on the chance of reaching the final a second time said,

“We are confident we can secure a place while here in India after a really strong 12 months. The Final would be a great reward for the players and staff who have done so well. Leading Team India out onto the field of play at the World Test Championship Final would be special.”
