Club legend Ian Wright advices sporting director Edu Gasper and manager Mikel Arteta over their summer transfer plans at Arsenal.

Arsenal might have to change their transfer plans after following comments made by Ian Wright. He adviced Sporting director Edu Gasper and manager Mikel Arteta to sign a new striker who can compete with Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus have been the first-choice striker since joining from Manchester City last summer. Eddie Nketiah came as his replacement when the Brazilian’s injury absence. However, Arsenal will like to cash in on their academy graduate Folarin Balogun.

But if Balogun leaves in the summer, Arsenal would likely to sign a striker to bolster their attack as both Edu and Arteta would like sign a young forward in the summer.

After Arsenal’s defeat against Manchester City, Ian Wright criticised Jesus’s positioning and suggests Gunners miss an out-and-out striker this season. He said on Matchday:-

“What it was, it was the only way you were going to get something off them [City].

“You look where Jesus is [out on the left] and this is the only way Arsenal are going to get any sort of half chance. They did finally break through at one stage and then you look at that [no Arsenal players in the City box].

“That is where you want your striker because you are not going to get too many opportunities where are you going to be able to break into City and do that. That was five minutes in, you have to take it to put them on the back foot.”
