Club legend and Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez recently spoke to the media about his expectations for the new season.

Barcelona have had an uptick in form since the Spaniard’s arrival. The Blaugrana were struggling under Ronald Koeman and were relegated to the Europa League. However, the arrival of Xavi saw the team playing better, finishing second in La Liga.

Now, after a positive transfer window, Xavi will hope that the Catalans can take another step ahead. They have added some serious quality to the squad now. Xavi said that he was “very happy” with the board’s ambition in the window. The legendary midfielder also added that he wants to take Barca to the top again, whilst sticking to the club’s “tiki-taka” philosophy

The club is working very hard to keep on making the team stronger. As of now, I am very happy with how the team is training and competing on the pitch.

Players want to come here because this is an exciting project. We are not in the best place right now, but it is still Barça. My dream is for Barcelona to win titles. I am a student of Cruyff and Pep. I will try to put Barcelona back on top of the world. And it is not for my ego, it is for the club

Xavi On Lewandowski

One signing that Xavi specifically praised was Robert Lewandowski. The Polish marksman has been one of the finest players in the world in the last couple of years. His addition alone has made facing Barcelona any defender’s nightmare. And Xavi is well aware of that.

Lewandowski is a star and a top professional. I am so happy to have him in my team. Having a lot of players in attack is not a problem. You have to understand that, in current football, with 5 substitutions, there is no longer a fixed starting XI All I want is for Barca to win and become the best team in the world again. Last year, when I came in November, we gradually improved. We played good football, then fell off again. This year, it’s our obligation to be more consistent

Barcelona fans around the world have had a rough couple of years. However, this window appears to have changed their fortunes. There is an air of optimism around the Nou Camp, and it will be interesting to see how the season pans out for them,
