Yeovil Town vs Bournemouth: Match preview, team news and predicted line-ups

tennis player

Championship table-toppers Bournemouth travel to the Huish Park to take on Yeovil Town in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The two teams last met each other back in 13/14 when they competed in the Championship.

Yeovil failed to beat Bournemouth in both league fixtures back then. They drew 1-1 at home and Bournemouth came out 3-0 winners at the Vitality Stadium.

The Conference Premier club have had a mixed season so far, and they sit 11th in their league with 31 points in 20 games. They come into this game with two back to back defeats against Torquay United.

They have lost their last two games against the same side with an aggregate score of 5 goals to 1. Yeovil lost the away game 3-0 and lost 2-1 at home as Dan Holman scored a late winner to seal the win for the away side.

Yeovil Town have performed quite well in the FA Cup despite their inconsistencies in the league. They dominated Yate Town in their first-round fixture with a resounding 5-0 win. They beat Stevenage 1-0 in the second round to draw Bournemouth.

Bournemouth on the other hand have rediscovered their form in the past couple of weeks. They went on a six game winless streak before winning their last two games against QPR and Cardiff City.

The Cherries are now top of the table in the Championship with 49 points. 3 clear of second-placed Blackburn Rovers and 4 points clear of rivals Fulham.

Bournemouth manager Scott Parker‘s primary objective for this season will be a finish in the top 2 places in the league. Nevertheless, a win and qualification to the 4th round of the FA Cup will go a long way in boosting the squad morale.

Yeovil Town vs Bournemouth: Team news

Yeovil Town

The Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll confirmed in his pre-match press that there are some Covid positive cases in the camp. So there will be some absentees in this game due to Covid but the names of those players remain anonymous.

Matt Worthington and Morgan Williams both remain doubtful as they suffered knocks in the last game against Torquay.

Possible Yeovil Town starting line-up

Smith; Williams, Hunt, Staunton, Robinson; Barnett, Gorman, Worthington; Knowles, Wakefield, Yussuf

Bournemoth

Bournemouth do not play their next league game for a week so Scott Parker is expected to field a comparatively strong starting line-up.

New signing from Fleetwood Town James Hill could be handed his Bournemouth debut by Scott Parker. We do not expect to see many more changes in the Bournemouth starting XI.

Possible Bournemouth starting line-up

Travers; Stacey, Cahill, Hill, Zemura; Cook, Lerma, Billing; Christie, Solanke, Anthony

Our prediction

Yeovil Town 0-4 Bournemouth

The Championship side seem to have found their form back. Their squad is also coming back to full strength. The away side will have too much quality for Yeovil Town.

Yeovil Town are massive underdogs in this game. We do not see them threatening the Bournemouth goal. The Cherries star Dominic Solanke could have a field day if given the start.
