Chennai Super Kings finished second on the points table yesterday after defeating Delhi Capitals by 77 runs.
They have now also qualified for the playoffs which means they will be playing Gujarat Titans.
However, there are also talks among the fans of CSK that this might be MS Dhoni’s last IPL. While the skipper has not given any official confirmation, the news has spread like wildfire.
Additionally, CSK fans have also gathered up in huge numbers this season to support the Yellow Army.
Also, fans saw CSK players along with Dhoni taking a lap of honor at Chepauk after their last home game which is also driving this fact home.
Fans also know that Dhoni has a very dramatic and unexpected way of calling his retirement from cricket as he did in ODIs and T20Is for India.
But, former India cricketer, Yusuf Pathan has a completely different version of events as far as Dhoni’s retirement is concerned.
Yusuf feels that the Impact Player rule will immensely help Dhoni
Yusuf is of the opinion that with the introduction of the Impact Player rule, MS Dhoni can sustain himself for another five years in the IPL.
Says Yusuf,
In my opinion, Dhoni can continue playing for another five years because of the new Impact Player rule. He has said nothing about retirement, it’s others who have been talking about it. He still has a lot of cricket left in him. He has hit big sixes in IPL, despite pain in his knees. So this shows his commitment towards the sport.
This year, Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings have reached the playoffs and got 17 points overall from the league stage.
They will now be keen on defeating Gujarat Titans and getting to the finals this year and winning the trophy for the 5th time.
