AC Milan: Expectations high for the season

AC Milan recently won a Serie A title after 11 years. It was a glorious sight to behold, as a sleeping giant once again came to life after years of mediocrity.

Now, they will go again to defend their crown. The optimism on the red side of San Siro is palpable, and supporters are hopeful that the club can add another star to their jersey.

In Italy, a club gets a star on their jersey when they win the league ten times. AC Milan are on 19, the same as their city rivals Inter. Only Juventus have more, with 36. It will be a magnificent feat for Rossoneri to achieve it.

AC Milan: Signings This Season

The club signed Divock Origi from Liverpool. The Belgian has tons of experience and has shown himself to be a big game player. He is essential, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 40 years old now, and has knee problems. Olivier Giroud is aging as well, and cannot start every game. Moreover, recent reports have linked him with an exit.

Origi recently expressed his excitement to be in a historic club like AC Milan. He said that winning the 20th title is an objective for him and the hierarchy.

Achieving the second star and thus the 20th title is the aim. It was one of the first things that (directors Paolo) Maldini and (Frederic) Massara told me. We will do our utmost to make it possible and obviously it would be a great result.

Besides, Milan made the loan signings of Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias permanent. French teenager Yacine Adli has also returned from his loan stint at Bordeaux.

Charles De Ketelaere is their marquee signing. The Brugge midfielder is extremely skilled, and at 18, one of the best prospects around.

With all these signings, Milan will hope that they can replicate their success of last season. The appointment of legendary defender Paolo Maldini seems to have done wonders for AC Milan, and fans will hope that it will continue.
