In July 2021, he extended his contract until 2024, featuring a staggering 500 million euro release clause.

Balde impressed during the 2021 summer pre-season, becoming Jordi Alba’s primary backup. His official debut for Barcelona’s first team came on September 14, 2021, during a UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
