Former English Footballer Gary Linekar praised Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance against Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Alexander-Arnold shifted his position to midfield and Linekar was impressed with his performance at the middle of the pitch. Liverpool won 6:1 against The Peacocks on Monday.

The 24-year-old also provided two assists. He started as a full-back but the Englishman did operate as a roaming midfelder and was brilliant in that role.

Linekar has long advocated the fact that Alexander-Arnold should play in the midfield and his became true. The Former English Footballer posted on his Twitter handle and wrote :-

“Said it for years: I’d love to see @TrentAA play in midfield regularly. It’s the position he grew up playing. Play to your strengths.”

Alexander-Arnold is one of the best passers of the ball in the world right now and he could be lethal in midfield for Liverpool. But playing as side-back and in midfield is quite different.

His passing range suggests that he will do a excellent role in midfield week in and week out and his future role at Anfield can change after his performance against Leeds United. His early good signs in midfield suggests that Alexander-Arnold can flourish at middle of the pitch in the long run.

Even Jurgen Klopp praised Alexander-Arnold’s passing and said :-

“Wherever Trent is [on the pitch] he can be decisive with his passes, he was very often for us, that’s how it is, tonight was a good game, you could see that he enjoyed it.”
