Andreas Pereira To Fulham: Done Deal

According to The Athletic, Manchester United and Fulham have reached a deal over the transfer of Andreas Pereira.

The 26-year-old recently spent time on loan at Flamengo and Lazio in the last couple of years.  Pereira hasn’t played for Manchester United since the 2019–2020 season. The Red Devils signed Bruno Fernandes in the January window that season.  He was an immediate improvement and got to a terrific start at Old Trafford. United fans have not looked back since. 

The Brazilian team had the option to permanently sign Pereira for £9 million but declined the offer owing to financial constraints. Pereira played in central midfield with Flamengo for a. In 52 games, he scored eight goals and provided three assists. 

His transfer to Fulham has now been approved for a fee of about £10 million. Fulham will pay 8 million upfront for Pereira, and further performance-based bonuses. United have inserted a 20% sell-on clause, in the event that Fulham sell the Brazilian in the future,

With the move to Craven Cottage, he will be guaranteed a regular starting position and might play alongside Joao Palhinha. Palhinha, who has previously been linked with a move to the Red Devils, has signed with the Cottagers as their first acquisition as Marco Silva looks to bolster his options.

Andreas Pereira And United: A Story That Didn’t Work Out

Despite making 75 appearances for United, Pereira has spent more than ten years at the club without ever becoming a consistent first-team player. He was a hot prospect in the PSV Eindhoven academy. Periera was on the radar of a number of clubs, before Sir Alex Ferguson personally convinced him to join. He came to Manchester in 2011, making his debut in 2014. A number of loan spells ensued, and he could not nail a spot in the team.

But now, it looks like the story of Andreas Pereira has come to an end.
